Our Lord calls us to serve
Nothing happens at Nativity without our faithful volunteers. Here are just a few ways we serve alongside each other for the good of the church and the world.

Acolytes, crucifers, assisting ministers, and Communion assistants all help maintain the beauty and dignity of our worship services.
Acolytes (kids grades 5-12) light altar candles, distribute offering plates, and help with Communion.
Crucifers (youth and adults who have gone through confirmation) carry processional crosses and help with Communion.
Assisting minister help throughout the service by reading Scripture, leading prayer, and helping during Communion.
Communion assistants help distribute the wine during the Sacrament.
-
Altar guild members do much of the “behind the scenes” work needed for our worship services. They maintain furnishings, handle Communion supplies, and otherwise ensure everything needed for Sunday services, weddings, funerals, and beyond is prepared.
-
Pastoral care involves tending people’s spiritual needs. These volunteers make cards for those on our prayer list, deliver home Communion to those unable to attend church, and prayerfully make shawls for those in need, among other things.

Volunteers in this area help enhance worship through the usage of the arts. They make and hang banners featuring holy symbols, install seasonal items like our Christmas trees, and otherwise contribute to the beauty of Christian worship through their time and talents.
